As wind and solar generation grow, both are gaining weight.<\/p>\n<p>We advise transmission system operators and regulators in Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland on balancing markets, imbalance pricing, and balance group management \u2014 through studies, expert reports, and courses. However, they often have an incentive to submit a biased forecast. For the German TSOs, we evaluated options to improve schedule accuracy, building on lessons learned from other countries. 2024\u201325.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Imbalance settlement price (Swissgrid).<\/strong> Concerned about large system imbalances, Switzerland has decided to reform its imbalance settlement price. As part of a review committee, we provided input and assessments and supported external communication. 2023\u201324.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passive balancing (multi client).<\/strong> Market parties bet on the imbalance settlement price, thereby helping to balance the system \u2014 arguably one reason Germany\u2019s balancing reserve demand halved while wind and solar capacity quintupled.
